Data TAbles

  • Tables can be read as text without table commands
  • Alt text should generally not be used
  • when alt text is present JAWS will not allow access to data in table
  • NVDA always allows access to table data and will not read alt text on data tables
  • Older office checkers flagged tables without alt text but newer versions do not
  • Recommendation: do not use alt text on data tables
