Alt text
- JAWS reads description field only
- NVDA will read either. If both are present it reads description
- PPT accessibility checker looks for description field
- Recommendation: use the description field for alt text of images, charts, and groups
Data TAbles
- Tables can be read as text without table commands
- Alt text should generally not be used
- when alt text is present JAWS will not allow access to data in table
- NVDA always allows access to table data and will not read alt text on data tables
- Older office checkers flagged tables without alt text but newer versions do not
- Recommendation: do not use alt text on data tables
